An Electric Loop Project

The electricity passes through a closed loop. We can form a closed loop using four fingers like square, rectangle, heart and etc. I did project using an alkaline battery, a small bulb, alligator clips and wires. connect one end of the battery using wire and alligator clips to one end of the bulb. Same way the other end of the bulb to the other end of the battery. The bulb shines brightly because of a closed loop and the electricity passes through the loop.

The battery has two ends. one end +ve, the other end -ve, the battery voltage is 1.5 volt D.C, the brand name is energizer which was made in singapore. The positive end of the battery can be identified by marking or bulged end and the other is a flat end which is negative. Bulb has 2 ends, inside the bulb there are filament which looks like a spring through which the light shines when the electricity passes.

The above principle are used in house wiring using bulbs switched and wires.

The Earth

All human beings and other creatures are living in the surface of the earth. The 3rd planet of our Solar System is our Earth. Our Earth is mostly made up of water, hills, mountains and deserts. The Earth is, in fact, not really round. It is called an oblate spheroid meaning it’s slightly flattened on the top and bottom poles. The surface of the Earth rotates over 1000 miles per hour. The diameter of the Earth is 7,926 miles. We live on the outermost layer of the earth, called the crust. This varies in depth between 5 and 75 km.

The Earth is mostly made of silicates, with a tremendous amount of oxygen mixed in. In fact, 47% of the Earth's crust is oxygen. The thickest parts of the crust are under the continents, and the thinnest parts are underneath the oceans. The Earth was formed about 4.6 billion years ago through a process called accretion. The age of the Earth is 4.6 billion years old.

The Moon

The moon is the earth's only known natural satellite, the fifth largest satellite in our solar system. It is the largest natural satellite of a planet in the Solar System relative to the size of its primary, having a quarter the diameter of earth and 1/81 its mass. The Moon is the second densest satellite after Io, a satellite of Jupiter. The moon measures about 2160 miles (3476 km) across and the radius of the moon = 1 737.4 kilometers. The mass of the moon is 7.3522 kg. the Moon orbits around the Earth once per month, the angle between the Earth, the Moon and the Sun changes; we see this as the cycle of the Moon's phases.

The time between successive new moons is 29.5 days (709 hours), slightly different from the Moon's orbital period (measured against the stars) since the Earth moves a significant distance in its orbit around the Sun in that time. The Moon was first visited by the Soviet spacecraft Luna 2 in 1959. It is the only extraterrestrial body to have been visited by humans. The first landing was on July 20, 1969, the last was in December 1972. The Moon is also the only body from which samples have been returned to Earth. In the summer of 1994, the Moon was very extensively mapped by the little spacecraft Clementine and again in 1999 by Lunar Prospector.
