What a strange statement it is...Being friendly with your Foe!! 

Yes.It means your enemy will know all your strength and weakness.They Gauge you rightly.The only two people can know you the best are your friends and foe's.

Being your friend, he must be knowing all you good&bad/weakness&strength..But how the Foe?? May be once your friend turn to be your foe...he/she may knew you the best.

Many among us don't know the strength of us..Only our enemies decide our strength..The people around you may reflect you and if one can see it..we may turn this as our favor to gain/add more power to our own self.
